Last Friday, things could have been worse for West Johnston, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-44 loss to Cleveland.
Despite the defeat, West Johnston had strong showings from Kameron Taylor, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds, and Dionta'e Williams, who scored 7 points along with 3 steals. Taylor scored a full 29.5% of West Johnston's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was William Moore, who scored 7 points.
Meanwhile, Fike came up short against Beddingfield on Friday and fell 61-54. Fike has struggled against Beddingfield recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their loss, Fike saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. William Monk, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The matchup was Monk's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Dylan Skinner was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
The losses dropped West Johnston to 3-4 and Cleveland to 4-3.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: West Johnston hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 58.3 points per game. It's a different story for Fike, though, as they've been averaging only 57.8 per game. The only thing between West Johnston and another offensive beatdown is Fike.
