The Lovejoy Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 78-42 loss at the hands of Woodward Academy. Lovejoy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-21.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodward Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Z Williams, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Lauryn Cooper, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and four steals.
Lovejoy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Woodward Academy, they pushed their record up to 20-5 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.
Lovejoy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Morrow presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Wildcats in Georgia (the Mustangs are ranked 152nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 383rd). Woodward Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
