The Cortland Purple Tigers are still winless after their contest against the Homer Trojans on Monday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. Cortland fell just short of Homer by a score of 34-31. Cortland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Homer apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Cortland's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antonio Terrazas, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Muir, who scored seven points.
Cortland bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Homer, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Cortland will be home for the holidays to greet Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Homer will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Skaneateles at 6:30 a.m. on January 4, 2024.
