Baseball Recap: Coalfield's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Coalfield had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They never let the Wartburg Central Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-1 on Monday.

Waylon Burgess made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Luke Treece was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Levi Heidel was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Coalfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in seven consecutive matches.

Coalfield's record now sits at 21-5. As for Wartburg Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-10.

Looking ahead, Coalfield will venture away from home to challenge Midway at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wartburg Central, they will host Tellico Plains at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
