The Lamar County Trojans came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Upson-Lee at home to the tune of 78-49. Considering Lamar County has won three games by more than 24 points this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lamar County had a senior duo take command as Shakiria Foster scored 33 points along with five rebounds and five steals and Zakiria Foster scored 24 points along with six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Foster has scored at least 25% of Lamar County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Wilcher, who scored seven points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Lamar County pushed their record up to 5-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Upson-Lee, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Lamar County will take on Arabia Mountain in a holiday battle at 8:30 p.m. on Friday at. Arabia Mountain is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Upson-Lee will be home for the holidays to greet Taylor County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Taylor County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
