Meanwhile, Philip Barbour started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Moorefield. They lost 13-5 to the Yellow Jackets on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Colts in their meetings with the Yellow Jackets: they've now lost five in a row.
Lindsey Moss and Olivia Wilmoth did some serious damage despite the final result: Moss went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, while Wilmoth went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Elkins' record is now 2-7. As for Philip Barbour, their record now sits at 6-9-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Elkins hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Philip Barbour struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
