Baseball Recap: Danville Finds Home Field Redemption Against Lewisburg

There's no place like home for Danville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Lewisburg Green Dragons on Friday. The Ironmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Eli Welliver, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Lincoln Diehl was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Danville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewisburg only posted a batting average of .214.

Danville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lewisburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Danville will take on rival Montoursville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Ironmen 3.2, the Warriors 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Lewisburg is set to square off against their familiar foe Central Columbia at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
