The Arcadia Titans's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They walked away with a 58-46 victory over Marcos de Niza. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Arcadia also won the last time the pair played two weeks ago.
Leading Arcadia to victory were Mykel Simpson and Braylen Rooney. Simpson scored 14 points along with three steals, while Rooney scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Simpson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Oliver Fay was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five steals.
When it comes to explaining why Marcos de Niza lost, one person who can't be blamed is James Steward. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhaimier Walker, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Arcadia's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-11. As for Marcos de Niza, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Arcadia won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Saguaro at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Saguaro is ranked 116th, while Arcadia is ranked 122nd). Marcos de Niza won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. St. Mary's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Marcos de Niza likes a good challenge.
