The McArthur Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Everglades Gators at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. McArthur is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
McArthur is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Taravella just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Trojans. The game marked the first time this year in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Everglades). They blew past Franklin Academy 13-2 on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Gators as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Dylan Arias looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Obed Lopez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Heath, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Everglades always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2025.
Everglades' record now sits at 2-3. As for McArthur, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. McArthur has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Everglades struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
McArthur might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Everglades in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
