After a string of four wins, the Dawson Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 77-63 to Marlin. Dawson has not had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Dawson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elijah Allen. Despite the final result, he scored 37 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Allen has scored all season. Hastin Easley was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Marlin was led to victory by Jaidan Womack and Aarik Smith-shelley. Womack scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Smith-shelley scored 15 points along with five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacorian Johnson, who scored 12 points along with six assists.
Dawson's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Marlin, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4.
Dawson will take on the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marlin, they will head out on the road to take on the Longhorns at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Axtell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1085th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 447th).
