After a string of three wins, the Cardinal O'Hara Hawks's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They suffered a rough 78-54 loss at the hands of Canisius. Cardinal O'Hara has not had much luck with Canisius recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kels Ivey, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. The matchup was Ivey's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Gavin Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Cardinal O'Hara's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Canisius, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.
Cardinal O'Hara will square off against Lancaster at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lancaster presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cardinal O'Hara in New York (Lancaster is ranked tenth, while Cardinal O'Hara is ranked 136th). Canisius will be home for the holidays to greet Cathedral Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cathedral Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
