The Lone Oak Buffaloes's three-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Cooper 48-45. That's another feather in the cap for Lone Oak, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Cooper's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leddy Murray, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Marilynn Wilkerson, who scored 6 points along with 10 rebounds.
Lone Oak's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Cooper, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Lone Oak will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Hawkins at 6:15 p.m. on December 5th. Hawkins presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lone Oak in Texas (Hawkins is ranked 244th, while Lone Oak is ranked 860th). As for Cooper, they will square off against Pleasant Grove at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Grove comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
