Silverdale Academy added to the longest winning streak in A District 5 this week by beating Bledsoe County, 28-0. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Seahawks.
Silverdale Academy took down the Warriors 28-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Grace Baptist Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jared Thompson threw for 66 and 1 touchdown and Chet Matheny had 66 yards receiving. On the ground Will Slack chipped in 169 yards.
Slack was a passing and rushing force as the Golden Eagles bested Jackson County. Slack's key target this week was Matheny, who caught 4 passes for 66 yards.
Matheny was the best wideout in the league this week as Grace Baptist Academy defeated the Blue Devils.
Grace Baptist Academy's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Golden Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Issac Spencer has thrown for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Matheny has 11 catches for 155 yards.
Bob Ateca's team's Slack is a mere 45 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 146 carries Slack has accumulated 955 yard this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Boyd-Buchanan takes on Al Rogers' team. As it stands, the Buccaneers are in third, while the Seahawks are in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Boyd-Buchanan takes on Silverdale Academy. Grant Reynolds' team has allowed 252 points this season, while the Seahawks have given up 60.
The Golden Eagles made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,414 from 13,015. The advance stemmed from a 48-20 victory over Jackson County last week.
