Cummings is 0-6 against the Bears since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cummings Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Chatham Central Bears at 6:00 p.m. Cummings comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-15, which was the final score in Cummings' tilt against the Hawks last Friday. While losing is never fun, Cummings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 540th, while the Hawks are ranked 17th).
In what's become a running theme this season, Chatham Central gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 63-40 margin over Jordan-Matthews. The win made it back-to-back wins for Chatham Central.
Karaleigh Dodson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 18 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Katherine Gaines, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Cummings' loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-14. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.1 points per game. As for Chatham Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Cummings came up short against the Bears in their previous matchup back in January, falling 51-43. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dodson, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Now that Cummings knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
