The Geneva Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the West Geauga Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Geneva is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Geneva made up a huge gap compared to their last game against South, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Rebels recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Ella Walker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Claire Cafaro, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, West Geauga came tearing into Thursday's contest with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pirates, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since March 25th.
Lely Percassi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Faelynn Beckrest was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. She has been hot, having posted three or more hits the last six times she's played. Ava Borz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
West Geauga kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in nine consecutive games.
Geneva's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for West Geauga, their record now sits at 14-3.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Geneva hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like West Geauga struggles in that department as they've averaged .410. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Geneva might still be hurting after the 21-10 defeat they got from West Geauga in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
