Dixon has gone 8-1 against Northside - Jacksonville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Dixon Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs at 6:30 p.m. Northside - Jacksonville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Dixon, who comes in off a win.
Dixon barely beat Coastal Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Dixon never let Coastal Christian get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their two-run performance the game before.
Chris Tesgle and Chris Guslander were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Tesgle tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Guslander struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. At the plate, Tesgle scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Guslander scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those runs were Tesgle's first of the season.
In other batting news, Dixon got a massive performance out of Bryson Ponsock, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that Ponsock scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawn Almeida, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Dixon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Northside - Jacksonville and Southwest Onslow faced off in a cross-town battle on Thursday. Northside - Jacksonville fell 6-3 to Southwest Onslow. The Monarchs haven't had much luck with the Stallions recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Northside - Jacksonville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Butterfield, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Dixon moved to 1-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Northside - Jacksonville, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Dixon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northside - Jacksonville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 12.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Dixon's way against Northside - Jacksonville when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Dixon made off with a 15-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dixon since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
