The Community Christian Cyclones waltzed into their match on Friday with 11 straight wins but they left with 12. They enjoyed a cozy 77-62 victory over Bethel Christian Academy. Given Community Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Bethel Christian Academy is ranked 621st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Community Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evan Gattis, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and five steals. Gattis hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Tavares Williams, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Community Christian pushed their record up to 13-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points per game. As for Bethel Christian Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Community Christian will take on Hobgood Charter at TBD on Thursday. As for Bethel Christian Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Hilltop Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. One thing working in Hilltop Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
