Service is 2-8 against South Anchorage since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Friday.   Landon Martindale made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing 1.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Martindale was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
 Martindale wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Andrew Hickman, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was  Hunter Christian, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
 Meanwhile, South Anchorage had just enough and edged Chugiak out  3-1 on Thursday.
  Trevor Maltby was  excellent,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in two of his three plate appearances.  Carson Maltby was another key contributor,  going 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases.
 Service pushed their record up to 8-0 with that  win, which was their sixth straight  at home dating back to last season. As for South Anchorage, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
 Service took their  win against South Anchorage  in their previous meeting  two weeks ago by a conclusive  9-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Service since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
