Having just played yesterday, the Elkton Golden Elks will jump right back in to play the Tri-State Christian Crusaders at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Elkton is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
On Wednesday, Elkton was the victim of a tough 55-32 loss at the hands of Greater Grace Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Elkton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Greater Grace Christian Academy is ranked 78th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Solmaris Diaz-Lugo, who scored six points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Tri-State Christian came up short against Rising Sun on Wednesday and fell 51-40. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tri-State Christian in their matchups with Rising Sun: they've now lost three in a row.
Elkton's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Tri-State Christian, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Everything came up roses for Elkton against Tri-State Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2017 as the team secured a 71-34 win. With Elkton ahead 40-17 at the half, the match was all but over already.
