The Island Coast Gators lost against the Port Charlotte Pirates back in October of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Island Coast took a serious blow against Port Charlotte, falling 49-8. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Island Coast in their matchups with Port Charlotte: they've now lost five in a row.
Dominic Rosado threw for 94 yards and a touchdown. Virdarian Maloy was his top target, picking up 52 receiving yards. On the ground, Gervaris Leaphart rushed for 33 yards.
Among those leading the charge was Ifeany (Ike) Perry, who rushed for 74 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Perry hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games.
Island Coast's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Port Charlotte, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Island Coast does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Port Charlotte will be playing in front of their home fans against Barron Collier at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Barron Collier is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
