The Canton Chiefs waltzed into their game Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. Everything went their way against Loyola as Canton made off with a 58-37 win. Given Canton's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Loyola is ranked 467th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Canton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bradley Eziuka led the charge by scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds. The match was Eziuka's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Williams, who scored 15 points.
Canton's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Loyola, they have fallen quite a ways from their 25-2 record last season and are now at 1-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canton will take on Plymouth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Plymouth is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Loyola, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cranbrook Kingswood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
