Walsenburg is 0-1 against Fowler since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Walsenburg Panthers will be playing at home against the Fowler Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Walsenburg sitting on five straight wins and Fowler on three.
Last Saturday, Walsenburg took their match at home with ease, bagging a 49-14 victory over Dolores Huerta Prep. The result was nothing new for Walsenburg, who have now won five contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Elton Chavez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 162 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 72 yards and a touchdown. Giovanni Aldretti was another key contributor, gaining 113 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Fowler at home against Hoehne on Saturday as the team secured a 48-20 victory.
Fowler's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trever Ketner, who rushed for 230 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Ketner was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. Another player making a difference was Gage Gottbehuet, who threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns.
Fowler's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Dylen Ormiston and his two sacks.
Their wins bumped Walsenburg to 5-2 and Fowler to 3-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Walsenburg has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 237.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fowler struggles in that department as they've been averaging 148.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Walsenburg was taken down by Fowler 56-6 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Walsenburg have more luck at home instead of on the road?
