Bethel Assembly Christian Academy hasn't had much luck against Faith Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Conquerors at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Bethel Assembly Christian Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Terra Ceia Christian. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the game before.
Mckinley Conner was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Chesson Paspas was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Bethel Assembly Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Faith Christian Academy). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Jacksonville Christian Academy a 23-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Faith Christian Academy, who have now won five contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Jessie Carrillo made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Andrew Kelly and Ben Reese did most of the damage at the plate: Kelly went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Reese went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Reese is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Ryan Griffin also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Faith Christian Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bethel Assembly Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bethel Assembly Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Faith Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bethel Assembly Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Faith Christian Academy when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
