The Poly Engineers put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Gerstell Academy 55-40.
Poly was led to victory by C. Mills and Brianna Pope. Mills scored nine points along with three steals, while Pope dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pope has scored all season. A. Overton was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Gerstell Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Miley Alguire, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Eniyah Stinnette, who scored four points along with 14 rebounds and five blocks.
Poly's win bumped their record up to 14-0. As for Gerstell Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.
Poly will be playing at home against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. McDonogh is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Gerstell Academy, they will face off against the at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Maryvale Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the are ranked 44th).
