New Albany has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Westerville Central Warhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
New Albany might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was Pickerington North who claimed the real prize. New Albany fell to Pickerington North 21-17. While losing is never fun, New Albany can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Pickerington North is ranked 14th).
Although New Albany took the loss, they still got scores from Brayden Pettinger and Joseph Owusu-ansah.
Meanwhile, Westerville Central got themselves on the board against Westland on Friday, but Westland never followed suit. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 38-0 win over the Cougars. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Westerville Central's zero-point performance the matchup before.
Jaystin Gwinn had a dynamite game for Westerville Central, rushing for 120 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 159 yards and a touchdown on only 12 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Gwinn, who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.
Westerville Central's victory bumped their season record to 2-7 while New Albany's loss dropped theirs to 3-6.
New Albany came up short against Westerville Central in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 17-7. Will New Albany have more luck at home instead of on the road?
