The Menchville Monarchs will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Kecoughtan Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Menchville will be strutting in after a victory while Kecoughtan will be coming in after a defeat.
Menchville can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 74-53 margin over Warwick. Given Menchville's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Warwick is ranked 337th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Kecoughtan came up short against Hampton on Thursday and fell 52-40. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Kecoughtan has scored all season.
Despite their defeat, Kecoughtan saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Derek Todd, who scored eight points, was perhaps the best of all. Kevin Dryden was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Menchville's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Kecoughtan, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Menchville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Kecoughtan when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-52 victory. Will Menchville repeat their success, or does Kecoughtan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
