In what's become a running theme this season, the Hillcrest Vikings gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Varsity Opponent 89-35 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 54-20.
Leading Hillcrest to victory were Xavier Herron and Jordan Allen. Herron scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals, while Allen scored 37 points along with nine steals and seven assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Allen has scored at least a third of Hillcrest's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mario Morgan, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Hillcrest is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Varsity Opponent, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 300-1155-2.
Hillcrest won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Memphis School of Excellence Winchester at 7:30 a.m. on January 26th. Memphis School of Excellence Winchester will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while Hillcrest is ranked 138th). As for Varsity Opponent, they will face off against Redlands Adventist Academy at 1:20 p.m. on Thursday. Redlands Adventist Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.
