Baseball Recap: Bayshore Drops Season-High Score on Gibbs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bayshore). They blew past the Gibbs Gladiators 22-3 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bruins considering their one-run performance the match before.

Diego Villegas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Bayshore's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Villegas was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Greene, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Bayshore: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Abraham Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Bayshore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bayshore's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Gibbs, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Bayshore will venture away from home to challenge Booker at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Booker is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Gibbs, they will take on Southeast at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gibbs is facing Southeast at the right time seeing as Southeast is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
