The Southeast Golden Buffalo won against the Northwest Grizzlies last Friday with 63 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Southeast secured a 63-57 W over Northwest. Given Southeast's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Northwest is ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Southeast to victory were Ma'khiyah Jones and Leela Jones. Jones dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, while Jones dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 20 rebounds, and ten steals. That's the first time this season that Jones pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailyn Dean, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
The victory was the third in a row for Southeast, bringing their record for this year to 3-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Southeast will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Heights at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Heights is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. Northwest will be home for the holidays to greet East at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
