Tularosa is 0-6 against Texico since March of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Wildcats will challenge the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. Tularosa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Tularosa took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Dexter 16-2.

Daniel Yuzos made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. Tularosa is 8-1 when Yuzos posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Sewell, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games he's played. Cameron Holguin was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Tularosa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Texico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Eunice, falling 15-1. The matchup marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Tularosa pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Texico, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tularosa has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Texico struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Tularosa might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from Texico in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
