The Payson Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Ganado Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Payson is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Payson came up short against Winslow and fell 48-39.
Despite their defeat, Payson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chloe Hancock, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Mylee Redford was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Ganado lost to Window Rock on the road by a decisive 62-46 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Ganado can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Window Rock is ranked sixth).
Payson dropped their record down to 16-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Ganado, they now have a losing record at 12-13.
Payson came up short against Ganado in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 42-30. Can Payson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
