Avon was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to second in Pequot - Uncas. Earlier in the week, the Falcons triumphed over Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton 35-15.
Gilbert-Northwestern Regional's dynamic duo of John Lippincott and Ed Vanty proved tough for Enfield to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lippincott threw for 93 yards and one touchdown and Vanty had 38 yards receiving. Thomas Casey helped Gilbert-Northwestern Regional's passing attack out by catching three balls for 30 yards.
Colin Moore was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 25 carries, he ran for 293 yards as Avon beat the Raiders. Jimmy Murphy also contributed to the rushing game with 15 yards on the ground.
Gilbert-Northwestern Regional's Lippincott and John Ambrozaitis have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Lippincott has thrown for 281 yards this season, while Ambrozaitis, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has two catches for 105 yards. Brett Quinion's team's Moore leads the league in rushing yards with 526.
A big matchup in Pequot - Uncas this week will be when the Yellowjackets take on Ellington/Somers. Gilbert-Northwestern Regional is currently in fifth, while the Knights are in first.
The Patriots made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,212 from 13,751. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 35-15 victory over Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton last week.
