The Mifflinburg Wildcats will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Milton Black Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Mifflinburg took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 42-12 win over Shikellamy. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.
Mifflinburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Troy Dressler, who picked up 179 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Chad Martin was another key contributor, throwing for 278 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per attempt.
Meanwhile, Milton had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They took down Bloomsburg 38-19. Given Milton's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Bloomsburg is ranked 489th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Cale Bastian was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Montgomery Fisher, who picked up 123 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Mifflinburg to 4-3 and Milton to 6-1.
Mifflinburg couldn't quite finish off Milton in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 and fell 29-26. Will Mifflinburg have more luck at home instead of on the road?
