Cowan is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Daleville a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Cowan Blackhawks will look to defend their home field against the Daleville Broncos at 5:00 p.m. Cowan has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Cowan's tournament run continued when they took on Jay County on Saturday. The Blackhawks lost 23-4 to the Patriots.
Savannah Hall and Bryleigh Hiatt did some serious damage despite the final result: Hall went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Hiatt went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Candice Matson, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Tri hit Daleville with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Broncos took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans.
Emily Simmons put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Valyn Pattengale made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Daleville's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Cowan, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Cowan hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Daleville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Cowan skirted past Daleville 2-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Blackhawks repeat their success, or do the Broncos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
