If the Elk City Elks were feeling good off their 79-30 takedown of the Clinton Red Tornadoes last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Elk City had to suffer through a rough 87-50 loss at the hands of Bethany. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elk City in their matchups with Bethany: they've now lost four in a row.
Leading Bethany to victory were Keziah Lofton and Zya Vann. Lofton scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Vann scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Vann is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Talia Vann was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Elk City's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Bethany, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elk City will face off against Chickasha at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chickasha is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Bethany on the road again on Monday and play against Newcastle at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th. Newcastle will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Bethany is ranked fourth).
