The Conestoga Cougars will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Yutan Chieftains at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Conestoga scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 50-11 victory over Boys Town. That 50-11 margin sets a new team best for Conestoga this season.
Danielle Ahrens was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Ayla Garrett was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Yutan came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Fort Calhoun by a score of 46-39. Given Yutan's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Fort Calhoun is ranked 85th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Conestoga's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Yutan, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Conestoga took a serious blow against Yutan in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 56-20. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Conestoga was down 36-10.
