The Hammond Tornadoes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 60-47 to Fontainebleau. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Hammond of the 46-41 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 5th.
Fontainebleau can attribute much of their success to Annalise Shidel, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals. Shidel has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Chevalier, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Hammond has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Fontainebleau, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hammond will take on Pine at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Pine is ranked 106th, while Hammond is ranked 115th). As for Fontainebleau, they will head out on the road to face off against Covington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
