After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Weeki Wachee, the Classical Prep Lions were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Hernando Christian Academy by a score of 44-32. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Classical Prep also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2023.
Classical Prep found their leader in underclassman Mia Milanes, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Milanes has scored at least 25% of Classical Prep's points. Kaelyn Malloy was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Hendricks, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hendricks has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Avery Collins, who scored eight points.
Classical Prep has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Hernando Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Classical Prep will take on Families Instructing Students HomeSchool at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Families Instructing Students HomeSchool's defense has only allowed 27.9 points per game this season, so Classical Prep's offense will have their work cut out for Classical Prep. As for Hernando Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
