The Portsmouth Christian Patriots will face off against the Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Portsmouth Christian has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 10.
Last Friday, Portsmouth Christian lost to Broadwater Academy on the road by a 49-32 margin. The Patriots were down 37-16 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Portsmouth Christian had strong showings from Jenna Patrick, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Lexi McLean, who posted four points in addition to five boards and three steals. Patrick is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.
Meanwhile, Greenbrier Christian Academy got the win against Denbigh Baptist Christian on Friday by a conclusive 43-17. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 23 points or more this season.
Greenbrier Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Katelyn Balka, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Balka a new career-high in steals (three). Another player making a difference was Bayleigh Kaliher, who earned nine points in addition to six assists and three steals.
Greenbrier Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denbigh Baptist Christian only posted two assists.
Portsmouth Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Portsmouth Christian has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Greenbrier Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
