Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valentine). They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat the Bayard Tigers 56-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Valentine has posted since January 7th.
Valentine found their leader in sophomore Paige Sprenger, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 13 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Sprenger has scored at least a third of Valentine's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Hand, who posted seven points and ten rebounds.
Bayard's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Hopkins, who earned four points in addition to five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jayde McAllister, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Valentine's record is now 7-16. As for Bayard, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.
Valentine didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-36 win against Perkins County on the 20th. Bayard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
