After a string of four wins, Pleasant Hill's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carrollton Hawks. If the Wolves were looking for revenge after losing 9-4 to the Hawks when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Ava Wombles was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
Wombles wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ada Little, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Pleasant Hill's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Carrollton, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 16-0.

Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Wolves have won six straight at home dating back to last season, while the Warriors won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Carrollton will challenge rival Routt Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
