The St. John Fighting Herald will head out to square off against the Jefferson Area Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in St. John's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
St. John is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Lordstown on Wednesday as they made off with a 30-1 win. The Fighting Herald haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Ezra Campbell was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with seven RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dyln Newsome, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, three RBI, and one double.
St. John always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .655 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Jefferson Area came up short against Madison on Tuesday, falling 11-4. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Blue Streaks: they've now lost five in a row.
Jefferson Area saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tate Hudson, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Michael Riffle was another, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
St. John's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.2 runs over those games. As for Jefferson Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
St. John's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's match. The Fighting Herald have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Jefferson Area, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will St. John continue to outrun the ball?
St. John was able to grind out a solid win over Jefferson Area in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Herald since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
