Perry hasn't had much luck against Ridgemont recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Commodores will challenge the Golden Gophers at 5:00 p.m. Perry has given up an average of 18 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Perry is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against Hardin Northern, falling 23-4.
Maddy McKee made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
Meanwhile, Ridgemont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 10-6 to Elgin.
Aubrie Overly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered ten runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Amiah Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Shreve, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Perry's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Ridgemont, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Perry has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ridgemont struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Perry took their victory against Ridgemont in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Commodores since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
