After flying high against the Fairfield Indians on Saturday, the Lakota East Thunderhawks came back down to earth. Lakota East fell to Pickerington Central 51-46. While losing is never fun, Lakota East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Pickerington Central is ranked first).
Several Thunderhawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Celina Blount, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Brooke Asher, who scored 10 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds.
Lakota East's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-4. As for Pickerington Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakota East will take on Lakota West at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pickerington Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Newark at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Newark will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
