Surry Central extended their home winning streak to seven games thanks to a huge performance from Presley Smith. The Surry Central Golden Eagles slipped by the North Surry Greyhounds 45-44 on Friday thanks in part to Smith, who went 8 of 19 on her way to 18 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Those 18 points gave her a new career-high.
The team also got some help courtesy of Jaycee Dalton, who posted two points and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last six games she's played.
North Surry's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bitty Phillips, who went 7 for 13 en route to 22 points and six rebounds. Phillips is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Kaylyn Collins also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Surry Central's record now sits at 10-3. As for North Surry, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3.
