The McGavock Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Overton Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (McGavock has four straight wins, Overton has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
McGavock put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Hunters Lane, posting a 50-10 win on the road. Given McGavock's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Hunters Lane is ranked 409th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Overton came up short against Hillsboro on Friday and fell 57-46.
McGavock's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Overton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.
McGavock came up short against Overton when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 43-31. Can McGavock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
