It was a good run, but the Alexandria City Titans unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 73-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of John Marshall. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (59), Alexandria City still had to take the loss.
Alexandria City's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Darius Bivins, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Kye Robinson who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Bivins is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Christian "CJ" Washington was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Alexandria City's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3. As for John Marshall, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with that victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.
Alexandria City will head out on the road to take on West Springfield at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. West Springfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Alexandria City is ranked 13th). As for John Marshall, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Freeman at 7:01 p.m.
