Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bluejacket). They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Foyil 15-13. With that victory, the Chieftains brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Colton Cochran was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. With the win, Bluejacket broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-4. As for Afton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Afton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. However, it's not like Bluejacket struggles in that department as they've averaged .521. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Afton came out on top in a nail-biter against Bluejacket in their previous matchup back in February of 2019, sneaking past 5-3. Does Afton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bluejacket turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
