It was a good run, but The Northwest Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of York by a score of 16-14. The matchup was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but Northwest was just barely outscored by York in the second.
Northwest's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Wiegert, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown. Wiegert's longest reception was for an incredible 87 yards. Lincoln Flagle was another key contributor, rushing for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Northwest's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for York, their win was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest will take on Norris at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Norris is ranked 47th, while Northwest is ranked 49th). As for York, they will be playing at home against Scottsbluff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
