The Gilbert Tigers can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 27-19 win over Dobson. The victory was just what Gilbert needed coming off of a 34-7 defeat in their prior contest.
Gilbert can attribute much of their success to Zach Thompson, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also picked up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown. Thompson's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
Despite the loss, Dobson still got an impressive performance from Allen Wallace, who rushed for 203 yards while picking up 10.2 yards per carry.
Gilbert's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Dobson, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gilbert will take on Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Skyline is ranked 87th, while Gilbert is ranked 94th). As for Dobson, they will head out on the road to face off against Sunnyslope at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sunnyslope will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
